How worried should I be about my bank accounts in this crisis? - bank accounts for

CNN Money says it is the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and during the Great Depression lost their savings when banks closed. Is that all that can happen during that time? I have a house, but it's something else I can do to help protect myself financially? In other words, they keep the money under the mattress? :) I have accounts at the Bank of America and several smaller credit unions. Thank you.
